Meet Annie Fleming
Annie Fleming’s love of numbers has paved the way for a fulfilling career in the New Zealand aquaculture industry.
Raised on a North Canterbury farm and a graduate of Christchurch Girls High School, Annie Fleming always harboured a deep affection for numbers—a passion that she was fortunate enough to transform into a rewarding career.
Her journey began with a Future Leaders Scholarship that led her to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce at Lincoln University.
After finishing her degree, Annie began her professional journey at Deloitte in Christchurch, setting her career in motion and achieving her Chartered Accountant designation.
However, the call of her agricultural background was strong, leading her to an Assistant Accountant position at PGG Wrightson. Her dedication and hard work paid off when, after passing her final Chartered Accountants exam, she was promoted to Management Accountant.
Annie’s career path took another turn when she joined AFFCO, working as a Site Accountant at SPM Malvern in Christchurch and SPM Awarua in Invercargill meat work sites. But her journey didn’t stop there; she later embraced the role of Site Manager at Talley’s Blenheim factory, a position she held for 18 months before stepping into her current role as the Chief Financial Officer for Talley’s Limited in Motueka.
“Regardless of your field of study, the industry is rich with opportunities. Starting in one area doesn’t mean you’re confined to it,” Annie explains. “With hard work, there’s tremendous scope for growth, and you’ll certainly find opportunities to advance in your career.”
