“New Zealand salmon is synonymous with the words healthy, pure and natural. ”
New Zealand’s King Salmon are recognised among the world’s greenest farmed fish.
A combination of pristine waters, strict bio-security procedures, low stocking densities and the absence of any native salmon species in New Zealand, mean that King Salmon is raised naturally using:
· no antibiotics
· no growth promotants
· no vaccines
In New Zealand, salt water salmon farms are located in deep waters and have good tidal movement to minimise any impact on the environment. A great deal of scientific analysis and planning goes into choosing the right site, and ensures a farm will have limited environmental impact.
Fish feed is also monitored closely to ensure that only the required amount is distributed and no excess feed falls to the seabed.
The independent Global Aquaculture Performance Index rates New Zealand’s fish farming industry as the world’s top environmental performer.
The Global Trust Certification Ltd also rated the New Zealand salmon industry as first class with one of the most robust environmental regulatory frameworks in the world.
“The New Zealand salmon industry achieves a first class rating amongst global producers. Born out of inherent resource based attributes displayed by the natural marine environment in combination with a highly dedicated, quality focused sector, New Zealand salmon is synonymous with the words healthy, pure and natural. Farms are compliant to one of the most robust regulatory frameworks in the world, developed through partnership and choice.”
