This month…

We are seeking feedback from our levy payers on the Phase II Strategy (2011 – 2015) and our 2011/12 budget.  The Board recently signed off on the draft Budget and capped the levy at existing rates.

You can download presentations from the 2010 New Zealand Aquaculture Conference.  And you can register for the 2011 conference which will be held over November 9 & 10 in Nelson.

We farewell one of the AQNZ originals, Rachel McKinnel, and wish her all the best for her next venture.

Adam talks to Mark Allsopp about farming Undaria and we report on the Great Coromandel Clean Up.

The recipe this month is Steamed NZ Greenshell™ Mussel’s with tomato, pesto & bacon sauce, served with crusty bread.

We look at the effect of the Japanese Tsunami on Marlborough Mussel farms and the impact of a recent toxic algae event on harvesting.

At the Havelock Mussel Festival we look at the mussel opening competition and profile Ratanak Keo and his sister Kannah.

Finally, we report on Cawthron’s 90th anniversary celebrations, where the Governor-General was the official guest of honour.

CEO, Aquaculture New Zealand
